April 2008

I’ve just visited my sister’s 2020 blog – www.lisaharvey.com.au - and I am most impressed with the stuff she has to say. Even though I am the more intelligent one! Have fun at the summit this weekend, even though you are missing my tv debut (how many sibling issues have been revealed here?). Our family is most proud, the kids are very impressed, and one day they will even get what 2020 is…. and then they can explain it to me.

Sawtell Chilli Festival is celebrating ten years this year with a huge program of events planned. Lanacoora chillies will take their place again this year. Book your accommodation soon if you are planning on making a weekend of it though, as it is big this year.

Cheers
Katrina

Just an update. I had said that Lanacoora Chillies would not be at the next school markets due to a trip to Sydney. As it turns out, things have changed and we will be back and at the markets – which is where we know best! So, a reminder to those who know us and an announcement to those who don’t.
Sunday 27th April.
Cnr Curtis and Long Roads, North Tamborine
6am onwards (I may not get there till 7.00!!!)

On the same day, if you are in Queensland, I encourage you to watch a show called Mercurio’s Menu. Paul Mercurio, who spent earlier years as a very talented dancer (Strictly Ballroom for example,) is now hosting this vibrant foodie show. The crew came to our farm to do a segment for their Gold Coast and Hinterland special, which airs on Channel Seven.
Sunday April 20. 5.30pm – New South Wales
Saturday April 26 5.00pm – South Australia
Sunday 27th April 5.30pm – Brisbane/South East Queensland
Victoria and Western Australia, I am unsure of, but keep watching. Visit www.mercuriosmenu.com.au for more information.

My sister put this website together for me so when I said I wanted to change it, she said, figure it out for yourself! So, with a few tentative phone calls to my very busy and cluey sister, I have been figuring out a lot of this stuff. And it has been lots of fun. The only problem is that I start to get cocky about my abilities and stuff it up. Thank the Goddess of all things chilli for the delete button!
Congratulations go to my sister, Lisa Harvey, for her selection to the 2020 Summit which kicks off in Canberra next week. Hats off to someone who considers herself normal (actually I am not sure that is true), going to the effort of putting herself out there. I hope manyof you made submissions to the 2020 site, although there wasn’t a lot of information on doing that.
The cold snap has kicked in, although it isn’t really that cold – 15 degrees celcius! Jim will be filling the wood shed this week so that the first fire can be ready to go. The smoker house is coming along – that’s jim’s other weekend job. Check out the progress here. The little tin smoker is working well though and will continue to provide.
I made a chipotle pickle yesterday. Very nice, but too hot for me.
I won’t be making the school markets for the next few months, but you can always contact me if you want anything chilli.
